Opera for a New Audience
According to Australian Bureau of Statistics data, only 9% of Australian women and 5% of Australian men have been in the audience for a live opera performance.
That figure would be minuscule if we narrowed it down to 'contemporary' opera.
Rewrite of the old sales guru pitch:
An opera company sent two representatives to explore a new market.
The first representative called back, discouraged:
"It's hopeless. Nobody here knows contemporary opera."
The second representative, however, was ecstatic:
"It's a fantastic opportunity! Nobody here knows contemporary opera yet!"
